At St Mary’s, we aim to create financially-informed individuals.
We want our children to make thoughtful and informed financial decisions that are aligned with their values. Financial education for our children means embedding real life, purposeful learning into our curriculum, enabling children to understand the ever-changing financial world that they live in today. Ultimately this will equip them with vital skills and attitudes that will help to prepare them for life after primary school.
Mrs Ryan has been working closely with an education consultant from PFEG (Personal Finance Education Group) to develop a programme of study that focuses on skills, knowledge and attitudes related to money and financial management.
Over the next couple of weeks the children will be introduced to learning about money management and how these skills are relevant in their own lives. We will achieve this through delivering a new planned scheme of work within maths and PSHE. The next couple of weeks’ homework will have a money focus and we would appreciate your involvement in supporting your children with this.
We are very excited about this new journey ahead for our children and we will keep you regularly updated on our website with all ongoing developments of this project.
