Music

Subject leader: Mrs Wilson

At St. Mary’s we highly value the importance of music. It fosters a wealth of life skills, encourages creativity and most importantly, is fun!

All of the children have the opportunity to enjoy a range of musical experiences through singing, listening, performing and composing.

Opportunities are given throughout the year to celebrate their musical talents that include concerts, special music celebration assemblies, end of year performances, masses and masses.

We also have lots of exciting events lined up for the school year ahead, including a variety of instrumental workshops.

Year 5 and 6 will have the opportunity to join other Brighton and Hove schools at the annual Brighton Centre Christmas Concert - one of our favourite yearly events.

Something new for St Mary's and tremendously exciting is that we are going to be performing at the 02 in January with 'Young Voices' - 30 of our oldest children will be joining a choir of around 6000 children from around the country - with famous singing stars joining in and performing too! So a very exciting year ahead to continue to celebrate music at our school.

We can offer a variety of peripatetic music lessons through the Brighton and Hove Music Service - please contact the office for more information as we have leaflets available for you to take.
ROCKSTEADY run a weekly music Rock Club during the school term. You can find out more information at www.rocksteadymusicschool.com and how your child can get involved.

Please remember to let us know any musical achievements your child makes, as it is great to share this news all together.
