St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School believes that physical education, experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is vital in its contribution to a pupil's physical, emotional and creative development and health.

The physical education curriculum aims to provide for pupils' increasing self-esteem and awareness through an ability to manage both themselves and others successfully throughout the PE curriculum. The curriculum is taught using varied and flexible teaching and learning styles, providing appropriate, stimulating, challenging and enjoyable learning situations for all pupils and promoting an understanding of the many benefits of exercise and sport, through a balanced range of relevant activities.
